Passion Projects In recent months, I’ve also undertaken some passion projects. As a child, I enjoyed melting away into literature and it’s a love I’ve rediscovered in recent years. As such, I’ve taken to creating content to share on Instagram about the books I’m reading and other creative endeavours, such as journalling and photography. For many of my Instagram posts, I use Canva. What I love about designing on Canva is seeing all of the ways I can innovate and repurpose content. The importance of consistency when it comes to brand recall can’t be understated, and I find sprinkling these series amongst my other content helps with just that. Below are some of my favourite pieces that I’ve created and shared on my bookish Instagram account. “These Books Stink” Series A central tenant of my personal brand is the fact that I have aphantasia, which means I’m unable to picture scenes in my head as I read. As a consequence, I focus on other aspects of texts, such as the smells and textures described. This inspired me to begin the series “these books stink,” wherein I connect the themes, tones, and settings of a books to scents and then to perfumes with those notes. “Judging (Positively)” Series I enjoy this series of its ability to flip expectations on their head. Judgement is not necessarily or exclusively a negative thing — I, for one, have found some of my favourite books because they had attention grabbing covers. I also love being able to group books based on their visual elements in this series. Professional Work If you’ve come from the home page (or if you’ve my portfolio and want a quick way back), you can view my portfolio here! My digital and social media marketing portfolio is full of work I’ve done for assignments at Seneca Polytechnic in the Digital and Social Media Marketing program.
